Super Weekend

I had a really fun weekend. Friday night Shane and I had a sleepover. We pulled the mattress from the spare bed and put it on the floor in the living room. We closed all the blinds so it was really dark in there. So dark, that in the morning it stayed dark and we didn't get up until 11 or so. We ate breakfast then went to the book sale at the library. I had been anticipating it all week. We got 2 or 3 different children's books so I can have something new to read to Caleb and Addie. We also found 5 missionary stories written for youth readers. Probably like a 5th grade reading level. We got David Livingstone, Amy Carmichael, Adoniram Judson, Hudson Taylor and Booth ( I don't remember his first name). So we were super excited. We got all those books for only $2.50!

So then after the book sale he worked on his message while I worked on my Sunday School lesson. When we were done we played a game called Dumbsweep together. It is our favorite and I think we play it almost every night now.

Sunday I got to teach the Sunday School class for the little tikes. Probably K-2nd grade or so. Then in the afternoon I went with Mrs Adams to the Arctic Tern. That was a real blessing and I am going to go again next week. Sunday night we had some of the teens over. We played Mad Gab (Shane and I won) and then a game called Nerks which is basically Dutch Blitz. I was really close to winning, but then fell behind and Clinton won. Then I cleaned up while Shane took them all home. When he got home he called for me from the front door. I went over and he handed me my coat so I put it on along with my boots and he took me outside. It was snowing really big snowflakes and the ground was covered in snow. Imagine my excitement! Hehe. We just stood in it for a few minutes then had a small snowball fight. (He won).

So, that was my super fun weekend. Oh, and it is still snowing now.

Snowing

Yesterday we woke up with snow on the ground! It was so neat! I loved it. It snowed all day and it is flurrying now. It is not really laying very much though because it had rained for two days before snowing. The ground is too wet for the snow to lay. I am told that this will soon melt but by the middle of October we will get a big snow and we will have snow on the ground until spring. I am excited about that. It will be a little cleaner than all this mud that we have now. Plus, snow is pretty.

I also have an answer to prayer. Shane's sister, Jennifer, asked me to take a sewing course with her at the college here. It is every Thursday night for the next 6 weeks. I really wanted to take it but I didn't have the money for it. I prayed and asked the Lord to give me the money for it if He wanted me to take it. Saturday night Jennifer called to tell me that her and her sister, Tannis, decided that they wanted to pay for it for me. I was so excited! God is so good! So now I get to take a sewing course. I forget what all they teach you but I am excited for the opportunity to get into the community a little to meet more people and get a chance to witness. I am so excited about it!

Cold, Wet Morning

Well, it is about 38 degrees this morning. It has been raining since last night so it is cold and wet. Saturday was beautiful weather...I think it was close to 60 degrees. It was nice and warm...then by Sunday morning it was in the 30s again. Weather changes quickly here.

Saturday Shane's mom and sister threw Shane and I a party. It was sorta a wedding party for the family here that didn't get to come to the wedding. It was also so that I could meet some of the family. Not as many people came as we had hoped but it was still a fun time. They even made us a pretty wedding cake with one tall and one short Inukshuk on top. The top layer was even gluten free! It was yummy.

Sometime tonight or tomorrow Shane and I will be getting the truck. Mr. Gordon is probably on the Dempster Highway right now. He travelled all the way to Edmonton to drive it back for us. We are really anxious to see it. The Lord really worked everything out for it so we are excited.

Well, I believe that's all for now. Bye.

Almost over being sick

Well Shane and I have just about conquered the flu/cold that came around. He had the flu and I had the cold. He was out for a week and I was our for about 5 days. I am glad it is just about over. We both had it pretty badly.

I am really distracted because Shane is watching iCarly. I blame my brother and sisters for that. He never watched it before they encouraged it. Anyways...

I made some cranberry jam and some cranberry bread this past week. Both were pretty good. I didn't really eat much of the jam but I am enjoying the bread. Shane likes them both. He is more a cranberry person than me.

I can't really think of any other updates or anything going on around here. I just thought I would update since I have the chance.

Monthiversary

I am so sorry that it has been so long since I have posted. I told everyone I would keep up with it but then I forgot. I am sorry.

I have started my new babysitting job for those of you who did not know. It is working out really well. I am enjoying it very much.

Yesterday was me and Shane's monthiversary. We didn't remember until like 8 o'clock at night but that's ok. We didn't really celebrate. I ate a cookie but Shane ate crackers. He is sickly so he couldn't eat a cookie.

On Monday it snowed here. It was coming down sorta heavy and it looked so pretty! But then yesterday and again today it is sunny and warm. I am thankful for the warm weather, though. I keep getting warned about how cold it will get. Mrs Gordon says I will happy to see the last snow fall at the end of the winter. I don't know, though. I do love snow.

Tonight I am going berry picking with Shane's sisters and mom. It should be fun. We are going after church so we will be out late. I hope I don't get too tired! Mrs Gordon gave me a pair of rubber boots to wear while picking. I am thankful for that. We are picking cranberries so I better go look up some recipes of yummo things to make with it. If you have any ideas go ahead and give me some!
